Why I Love Coaching
Why do I love coaching?!
Have you ever caught a wave, or played an instrument, or gave a presentation where afterwards you have this feeling of “wow, I really just did that”? It’s a moment of extreme gratitude, joy, and awe all built into one moment. It transcends the physical plane and starts to feel more, dare I say, spiritual.
That right there is why I love coaching. After a session I get to experience this pure moment of happiness knowing that me and the person who I just coached had a real, true, honest conversation about what they can do to move towards being their best self.
It’s a space where it is my role to really see the person, deep down, to listen to them, to understand what’s going on in their head and in their heart, to dream with them about where they want to go, who they want to be, and how they can get there. To be able to sit with another human being in that space and give them a chance to explore their own world is a true honour. It humbles me and honestly brings me to a place of giving thanks and gratitude to the opportunity of connection.
A session is also different every time. What comes into the space as needing attention isn’t always what ends up leaving. It’s dynamic, just like all of us.
I started my journey to become a coach at the beginning of this year, 2023, and to be able to head into 2024 as a coach, a person who can hold this space for people, leaves me feeling extremely grateful to everyone who helped me get here, and it leaves me feeling extremely excited for what’s to come.
I’ve surfed waves off the coasts of British Columbia and all around Australia (just tiny ones, nothing crazy), and it’s the only other experience that comes to mind when comparing how I feel after a coaching session. It’s a feeling that cannot be described, only felt. Like a part of me just connected with something bigger, something that cannot be seen. It leaves my heart full and looking forward to the next opportunity. I love being able to hear and honour people’s journeys, to walk alongside them.
So to everyone who has inspired and supported me to be a coach - I say thank you! To everyone who has allowed me to coach you - I say thank you! And to all of the people I will coach in 2024 - I say thank you! And I can’t wait to get started! 😃
